Here at MARI we bake with appreciation (and in celebration!) of the collective effort required to make baking possible. Someone out there has to grow that wheat and pick that berry so that we can turn scribbles and notes into a tea cake or a turnover. There is something so special about baking with ingredients that are grown where we live.  By working with local partners, we are given the opportunity to meet and thank our collaborators by name, and the food that we make is the product of an entire community!

Baking is a lot of things. It’s a means to be curious and a medium to cultivate joy. It incites a sense of wonder – try not to get giggly over a peak season raspberry I dare you! Baking is an endless adventure in curiosity and learning. It is the place where technical skill meets cartoon food magnetism. MARI is a place where together we can explore all of what baking is. Our goal is for MARI to become for others what it has always been for us-
